ENHANCED CIVIC JUSTICE CORPS PROGRAM GRANT OPPORTUNITY
The Enhanced Civic Justice Corps (CJC) Program Grant Opportunity is specifically for member Corps seeking funding as sub-applicants part of the project jointly funded by the Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and the Open Society Institute.
The purpose of the grant award is to support standardized implementation of the Civic Justice Corps model based on the CJC Full Implementation Guidelines (FIGS), and the grant requirements set forth by the Employment and Training Administration.
I. Enhanced Civic Justice Corps
The CJC program utilizes service as a strategy to re-engage formerly incarcerated and court-involved youth in their communities. Through partnerships with employers, justice agencies, and other community organizations, CJC sites nationwide offer Corpsmembers individual case management and intensive services; life skills development, service projects, education, and employment preparation as a pathway to success.
As part of the new initiative, the Enhanced CJC program will engage 600 young adult offenders and high school dropouts, preparing them for employment, successful citizenship, and post-secondary achievement. By collaborating with several national partners including the Association for High School Innovation, Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP), Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), and The Council of State Governments Justice Center’s National Reentry Resource Center and Reentry Policy Council (CSG) this initiative will allow for increased standardization of the CJC program model.
Corpsmembers participating in the CJC Program are also designated as AmeriCorps members, allowing them to earn an AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of a term of service.
